City Sonar Vol 4 is finally here!  The popular Deep House series comes back with two hours of groovy, dubby , and atmospheric beats that will make you bop your head and strengthen your neck muscles.The 4th installment of City Sonar was a long time coming.  Vol 3 was released in December of 09 and it’s not until now that Ricardo was happy enough with the new Deep House releases to finally record this set.  Volume 1, 2 and 3 have been downloaded about 5000 times since they were first released in August of 2009.

We think volume 4 is one of the best in the series and really hope you enjoy it.  Tell us what you think!

You have a choice to download the mix in AAC or MP3 format.  We highly recommend to use the AAC format especially if you are using iTunes or an iPod device.  This format also works in 90% of the media players.  The advantage of an ACC over an MP3 is higher quality audio, embedded artwork for every track, tracks indexing (you can skip tracks), and you see the title of the track that is playing. My 10 Favorites this Spring and I can’t say enough good things about the artists and remixers on this list…except Respect and Gratitude!  See what has made it into my rotation.

1. Just Doin It (DJ Freestyle Mix) :: Random Soul :: Random Soul Recordings

In my mind these guys just can do no wrong.  Close friends of the WCC, RS continues to put out amazing music in tone and in quality.  This promo is a sick rework by DJ Freestyle, and I love how this guy remixes and produces.  Make sure to get this one when it comes out.  Click the song title link to check out their vast array of work.

2. A-Town Jazz :: The House Inspectors :: Guesthouse

Another offering from Australia is the vibrant duo known as the House Inspectors.  These guys, aside from being great people, are unleashing so much amazing music on the house scene it’s almost unbelievable.  Ricardo and I regularly have to fight over their promos, and when you listen to their releases, you will see why.  If it was up to me, I would put 6 of their tracks on this list, alas, I cannot, so please check out their stuff as it is all amazing.

3. Unseen Things (Sonny Fodera mix):: D-T3ch :: Mind Travel

2 of my favorite things come together on this funky rework…..D-T3ch & Sonny Fodera.  This track has such a luscious and funky bassline, great use of the vocals from DK and making it far superior to the original (sorry Diddy!)  Love rocking this one anytime of night.

4. Music Sounds :: Husky :: Guesthouse

This doesn’t count as a Random Soul track seeing as it’s Husky on the solo tip, however, does mean that this is a funky ass deep track.  I love how Husky worked this one and it keeps the floor moving with it’s itchy deep vibes.  The spoken vox in the middle is just spot on….I don’t know where he and Yogi get their samples, but rest assured, I will torture it out of them next time they come over.

5. Everybody :: The House Inspectors & Bryan Jones feat: Adaja Black :: White

The Inspectors team up with Bryan Jones and the immensely talented Adaja Black on yet another Guesthouse killer.  I love this woman’s voice.  Great pitch, great emotion, and joined with HI and BJ, this vocal is surely to become a classic.  I usually don’t gravitate towards vocal tracks, but it’s ones like this that will always draw me to drop a sexy vocal on the floor.

6. Feels Right ( Ricardo Rae Bounce) :: DJ Freestyle & Ricardo Rae :: Guesthouse

No I don’t work for Guesthouse, but everything they release finds its way into my rotation.  This track by DJ Freestyle and Ricardo Rae is no different.  Love the dirty electric bassline, the ample sprinkling of vocals, and the flow of the track.  I feel like I am giving a meal serving suggestions, but it does mix nicely with the Husky jam.  I look forward to seeing more from Ricardo Rae in the future.

7. Jazz Sandwich :: Torin Rea :: White

Oh yeah, I had to plug my new track.  You will all hear it on the mix of this playlist soon enough.

8. Sea Lion Woman :: Wattie Green :: Juiced

Love this track.  I loved it by Nina Simone, I loved it by Feist, I love it by Wattie Green.  This track has an interesting and kind of scattered history as so much of it’s inception is unknown, but let us focus on the house version.  Wattie stays very true to the Feist version, but gives it some delicious electricity throughout, then references the Simone version later.  Really well done Wattie.  This is one of those tracks that become close to my heart much like Girl from Ipanema, Little Girl Blue, etc, etc, etc.  Anyway, if you want to read more about this song’s history… Click Me!

9. Someone Like You (Chuck’s Love Network Rework) :: Bravo Mike feat Monica Lynk :: Glideslope

Always bringing the soul and amazing elements to all he touches, Chuck Love reworks Mike’s house classic.  Really love the gospel organ in the background and light synth work.  This track you can always play and everyone comes to the floor, because who doesn’t like singing along to a great track.  The guitar is so sick too, well done Chuck, well done.

10. Street Delight :: The Candy Dealers :: Eight-Tracks

How else do I say this….I love the Candy Dealers!  These guys are so damn funky, and put together such great music.  This is a track from last year, but House Music is timeless, so who’s counting?

Just added and ready for download is the newest edition of WCC Radio!  EP 28 features the man behind a majority of all WCC Radio mixes, Ricardo Torres!  This mix starts with some deep house and flows nicely into some jackin house! You will notice that there is new drops on the last two shows. They are done by our LA friend Louis Hale who does killer spoken word. Actually he and Torin (of the WCC) have done an amazing track that they are shopping right now. Can you say Defected Peak Time? This is going to destroy the dance floors this summer. WCC Live @ Balance 3/31/07:  3 Hour Set

This was a really fun night back in the day where we were all still playing good old vinyl and rocking the club like no bodies business.  Torin, Dustin and myself (Kevin) played 5 tracks each and kept switching up all evening.  This is back when we were recording to CD so there are gaps between the hours, but none the less some solid mixes.

WCC Live @ Balance 2/02/08:  5 Hour Set

Here is another 5 hour set featuring Torin, Ricardo and myself (Kevin) that we rocked the Balance house crowd with.  I can remember this night pretty vividly.  The energy on the dance floor that night was unparalleled to most nights I’ve ever seen.  The crowd was electric!  Screaming, shouting, hands in the air and a down right crowded dance floor. All and all an awesome night in house music.  As usual we played in the signature WCC rotation style.  5 tracks each all night long.  Enjoy!

As creative industry professionals by day, and passionate DJs by night over the past 15 years, we’ve always strived to bring people together through music regardless of there being any money to be made.  It has continued to be our intention that the energy brought forth by our fans, the crowds on the dance floor we’re playing for, or those out there catching a podcast or radio show for the first time as reward enough.  The true joy will always remain behind the power of positive uplifting music.
